What is Iluvia?

Iluvia is our interactive visualization and educational game platform for our volumetric 3D models of astronomical objects. Iluvia turns every child and adult into an interstellar pilot navigating around nebulae, galaxies or other exotic cosmic objects. Explore our universe from the comfort of your own home, or on special touch screen exhibits set up in planetariums and science centers.

Iluvia is divided into 'Apps' that can be accessed from the main desktop. Apps allow Iluvia to be modular, so new features can be added quickly and seamlessly. Check out some of the current Iluvia apps below.

Explorer

This is our flagship app. Fly through and around nebulae, galaxies and stars as you Explore the universe and contemplate the big picture.

Animation Studio

Create sophisticated animations you can include in your own media, publications, or just for fun!

Presentation

Include our interactive 3D volumes directly in your PowerPoint presentations! Amaze your audience when you zoom into and look around a nebula in real-time during your presentation.

Stereo Workshop

Remember those cool magic eye posters from your youth? Well now you can create stunning 3D stereograms of nebulae, galaxies and more. Save them, print them, share them with your friends!

Create an account and receive 14 days of FREE ACCESS to all our SD models.

Purchase models

You can purchase more of our models for use in Iluvia (see 'Products' page). Build a portfolio of objects that tell your story. Purchased models are provided in HD, SD or both.

Downloads

Below you will find binary installation files for the most up-to-date Iluvia version. Please feel free to contact us if you have any issues with installation. The current version of Iluvia is X.2.0.0. Please try it out and let us know if you have any problems or would like to see any new features added. Enjoy!

Iluvia has been designed with simplicity and ease of use as a primary goal. The following tutorials will help guide you through some of its basic functionality, and show you some of the more advanced features that you may have overlooked. The tutorials also give a good overview and demonstration of what Iluvia is all about, and what it can do for you. Enjoy!

Getting Started

An introduction to Iluvia showing some of the basics and configuration. You will learn how to navigate the iluvia desktop, log-in to your ilumbra.com account, and run updates. You will also be shown how to download model files if they do not yet exist on your system.

Gallery

How to use the Gallery app in Iluvia. You will learn how to select specific models to use in Iluvia by: filtering, searching and sorting.

Explorer

How to use the Explorer app in Iluvia. You will learn how to rotate, zoom and drift the camera. Additionally you will learn how to change the appearance (brightness, opacity) of the model in Iluvia and how to split it open to look inside. How to run animations, switch back to the earth view of the object and how to create a screenshot is also demonstrated.

Animation Studio

How to use the Animation studio app in Iluvia. Concepts such as creating new animations and adding and removing keyframes are covered. You will learn how to setup a new animation from scratch and save the recording to a file.

Presentation

How to use the Presentation app in Iluvia. Learn how to view power point presentation inside of Iluvia and create slides that allow your presentation to interact in real-time with our 3D models.

Stereo Workshop

How to use the Stereo Workshop app in Iluvia. Iluvia allows you to create those cool Magic Eye images that you have all seen. Learn how to use our 3D models to create these stereographic images that you can share with your friends.

Pricing

FREE. No, seriously, all features of Iluvia are free. Guest users will have access to 3 SD models to play around with. If you create an Ilumbra account you will get 14 days of access to all of our SD models. After this time you can purchase models on a yearly plan (see below).

Model Pricing

€60/year (that is only €5/month!).The purchase of models includes both the standard resolution (SD, 256³), and high resolution (HD, 512³) version. To purchase a model for Iluvia, visit our 3D library page and click on any model you like. Then just 'Add to cart'

License Terms

Iluvia software may be installed on site on exhibit computers for public display and on company computers for operational purposes, such as preparation of movies and images for promotion. The software and any produced material and media may not be passed on to third parties for any purpose.

How do I create an Iluvia account?

Iluvia uses your Ilumbra.com account. To create an Ilumbra account, click on the 'Account' link in the header and then 'Register'
